What a ventilated cap actually is
A ventilated cap replaces the dense, closed foundation of a conventional wig with an open lattice. Wefts are anchored to a flexible grid with deliberate space left between them. Space for air to circulate, for heat to leave, for the scalp underneath to behave like skin instead of like a sealed surface.
The test is embarrassingly simple. You can pass your fingers straight through the cap. Try that with the wig currently in your closet.
Where it came from
We did not invent this
Ventilated construction has existed for years. It simply never went mainstream.
A closed cap is faster to build, cheaper to produce, and photographs exactly the same from across a room. So that is what the industry standardized on, and the discomfort became something women were expected to absorb rather than something anybody was expected to fix.
Alexis found this construction while researching a better way to make a wig. Not a better material. A better build. What Kallov did was decide to treat it as the standard instead of the exception, and to close an uncomfortable gap the beauty industry had been content to leave open.
Claiming to have invented something that already existed would be the easier story. It would also be a lie, and this house does not need one.
The problem
Why closed caps quietly fail you
Nothing about a closed cap is wrong in the first hour. That is exactly why it keeps getting made.
A traditional cap holds heat and moisture against the scalp with nowhere for either to go. Sweat in summer. Itching by mid afternoon. Irritation that gets worse the longer the piece stays on. If your scalp is already sensitive, or tender from chemotherapy, alopecia, or years of wig wear, a closed cap turns beautiful hair into something you are counting the hours to remove.
Airflow is a year round argument. A ventilated cap wears comfortably in a Georgia July, under a winter hat, through a workout, a workday, and a long evening. Less trapped heat also means less moisture sitting against the hair itself, so the piece holds its finish longer. Breathability is a comfort decision that turns out to be a longevity decision.

What the cap is made of, and what it is missing on purpose

Less cap, not better fabric
What makes it work is not the finer material. It is less of it. Open gaps through the body of the cap, placed where a head actually runs hot rather than spaced evenly because even looks tidy. You can put your fingers through it.

Nothing underneath
No stocking cap, because the stocking cap was half the heat. HD lace at the front, nothing adhesive against skin, and no second layer standing between the piece and the crown it sits on.

Adjustable, so it stays put
If nothing is glued down, something has to hold it. Every piece comes with adjustable elastic bands inside the cap. You tighten them to your own head and the piece sits snug. That is the glueless effect, and it is why it will always fit: the band takes up the difference between a size and your exact head.

Hand tied where it shows
Full lace, frontals, and closures are tied by hand, strand by strand, so the parting reads as scalp rather than as a seam. The cap body is machine sewn on purpose, because a sewn seam under tension holds where a tied one gives.

Sizes, not an average
Small, medium, and large. You measure at home and the size guide shows you, with pictures, which one you are. A piece should fit the head it was measured for, not the average of everybody's.

Every Kallov Hair is raw human hair, including the blondes and the colored pieces. Color is styling, not a lesser grade. Hair is finished by hand by our stylists and colorists in Georgia before it ships.
The luxury
The luxury is how it feels at hour nine
Anyone can photograph well in the first hour. The standard this house holds itself to is later than that: whether you can still feel air on your scalp at the end of a long day, and whether you took the piece off because you were finished with it rather than because you could not stand it any more.
Beautiful hair the room can see. A cap you can breathe through. Those are not competing goals here, they are the same build.
